I'm so sad right now. He was one of my favorite actors, if not my most favorite.

Agree.  A true movie star.  He doesn't get enough credit.  Like in ED WOOD, they have Orson Welles say "The studio actually wants me to cast Charlton Heston as a Mexican".  Fact is Heston lobbied the studio to allow Welles to direct TOUCH OF EVIL because no studio in town would hire him to direct anymore.  Heston knew Welles could take a rather pulpy script and make a great film.

Good night, Chuck.

yeah, I saw Touch of Evil and couldnt get over the hair/makeup/costume/accent. I also saw Soylent Green and Omega Man which are fun, but silly action flicks in the long run. Ten Commandments is alright but I thought he was super cheesy and over-emotey in it..

I think I just missed the train on Heston altogether.

edit. Scuse me, and Waynes World 2.... I once knew a girl in Grovers Corner....

He was great in TOUCH OF EVIL.  And OMEGA MAN.  And, actually, APES.

And it was Gordon Street.

Now Jew Askew, he was never Brando.  He wasn't trying to be.  But was always an engaging presence on screen, picked great projects and was interesting and fun to watch.

And maybe save the negativity for a day when he DOESN’T die.

Where the hell is Grovers Corner from... Sesame Street?

I just couldnt deal with the concept of Heston as a Mexican dude, RE: Touch of Evil, when all I knew him from was Apes and the NRA... It was odd

If you can't say anything nice please go somewhere else. All my plans for tomorrow have changed. I think a viewing of BEN-HUR will start the marathon.

If you only know Heston from his NRA days, you should do some research and look at his involvement in the civil rights movement. The man was a fantastic actor. If you can associate him with only one movie than you need to go watch more of his movies.

He absolutely killed as The Player King in Branagh's HAMLET.

On the dvd commentary, Branagh mentions that Heston told him that he received some of this best notices of his career for that performance.  No kidding.

I would love to have seen him do more Shakespeare.

I have Touch Of Evil playing now. I don't care if he doesn't look like a Mexican. He owns this film, no matter how hard Orson tries to steal it.

It is so unfortunate, but I am hoping with the unimaginable number of deaths related to Alzheimer’s, we can find more about this disease.  With the number of baby boomers that will soon be diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, I can see it becoming a leading cause of death within a decade or two.  Although I'm pretty sure one of my parents will end up with it, I pray everyday that they won't.
