Anyway, I only wrote this post to make you aware that your continual reference to him as "BJ Ryan" amuses me, and I was curious if you were doing it on purpose. It also makes me want to go watch MARRIED...WITH CHILDREN starring Ed O'Al.

B. Wolfe

Oops. BJ Ryan is (was?) the closer for the Toronto Blue Jays.

Interesting coincidence.

I'm more excited for Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist.

I don't know why, but I find it funny when a thread goes off onto other topics...it's like you're at party and someone says, "Come over here, we're all talking about 'Zach&Miri' and you walk over and all you hear is 'Bastards' this and 'Bastard' that.  Of course, I see how this tagent was reached...I just find it funny.  And that's my blog entry for today.

The movie business interests me so much, but I always need help understanding it.

You will never understand it.  I will never understand it.  No one will ever understand it.  William Goldman's "Nobody knows anything." is so overused because its the only fact about Hollywood.  I could be wrong as I, myself, definitely don't know anything.

I love the zack and miri trailers.  Earlier in the thread I criticized Kevin Smith's post Chasing Amy work, but it was because I thought most of what he did after Amy was just repackaging the old stuff.  This feels new and fresh, though.

Someone mentioned Smith riding on Apatow's coat tails, but that's ridiculous.  If anything Kevin Smith paved the way for Apatow and Seth Rogen, and all the rest.

That was me, and I didn't mean it that way. I just meant that it seems like he got a wholesale deal on Apatow's regular actors (Rogen, guy from the Mac commercials, black guy from The Office). I fully admit that all of those guys are hilarious, even though I can't remember most of their names at the moment, but if, say, Judd Apatow made a movie starring Ben Affleck and featuring Jason Mewes and Jeff Anderson, people would certainly accuse him of trying to steal Smith's kool-aid, ya know?

Not sure if it's true, but I heard that the roles were written for various regulars of Kevin's, and when some of them of them passed, Rogen suggested replacements.

But I don't think Justin Long is one of those (I didn't even realize he had been in any Apatow movies; I forgot about 'Walk Hard'); I would guess that he and Kevin met doing 'Die Hard'.

I didn't even know Smith was in Die Hard (15-year-old me would be hating me right now), but that makes a lot of sense.

Yeah. And when I saw DARK KNIGHT, I was thinking, if anything, the Crimson Avenger paved the way for this Batman, and all the rest.
