According to IESB, Eddie Brock and Venom are going to get their own film.

The site says that since the rights to Venom have reverted back to Marvel (New Line had 'em), they are meeting up with a number of "A-list writers" to work on a spin-off film. (They're not sure on how Sony fits into all of this.) IESB says: "We have to assume that since there is movement, and there has been recent meetings with writers, this property must belong to Marvel since they have made an interim agreement with the WGA."

I had a bad feeling about this until they mentioned the A-List writers. We're fine.

I actually think if they stay within the movie continuity this could be a perfect comic book film.  Venom swinging around some public records library looking for information on Sandman and his sick daughter, hanging around alleyways until Sandman happens by and punches him, and building a complex web system at a construction site?  Yes please!  Lord only knows what kind of wacky adventures he got into in the 24 hours between getting the suit and being burned alive.
