Let me nitpick for a second:

None of the cops or anybody tries to interfere with the Terminator as he starts busting up the vault door?

The guy in the car had a camera phone that could shoot that clearly from that far? And, why would that guy only film her from the neck up, when she was nude?

And, how many road signs have the year included on the messages? I've always just seen the month and day.

Anyhow, I actually didn't think it was too bad. I don't really like that every FOX action show has the same 24-ish feel, now. I guess I was expecting it to have the same tone as the movies.

I didn't care for the voice over at the end, either. Although, I think if they do that at the end of every episode, it'll be funny. I'll watch the second episode tomorrow and decide if I'll keep going from there.

Pretty dull. If Summer Glau wasn't in it I think I'd drop it immediately but she's in it so I guess I will keep watching.

I also like Dean Winters, and have heard that Garrett Dilahunt is going to be a Terminator at some point soon.

I like the idea that Skynet keeps trying to send robots back to get him, though I'm hoping it will soon realize that it should send more than one at the same time.

Wasn't that the reason you watch HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER? The eye candy?

I don't know how the televised version was, but the pilot that leaked online last summer was pretty cool.

It was pretty OK.  I'm enjoying the RiverTaminator.  I can't wait to see in what ways she is "different" and how.  Lena Headey's no Linda Hamilton, but she's already starting to grow on me.

This show, by all accounts, should've been friggin' awful.  By that token, the mere fact that I'm interested in seeing tomorrow night's episode is a testament to its quality.

what was up with the time machine that could send them into the future.  We all know that it's a one way trip to the past.

And my big problem with the "Terminator" in general remains.  So they can't send back weapons or anything "non-organic".  Fine.  The terminators are not organic, but they are "wrapped" in flesh.  Fine.  Why not wrap a gun in flesh (or better yet build it onto their arm) and send it back with a terminator?

I guess they have the same witness protection program in the terminator world as they do in the Star Wars world.  If you try and hide someone DON'T GIVE THEM THERE FATHERS LAST NAME!!!

I missed the first 20 minutes or so (I joined in when he was in class telling River he lied about his father).  What did I miss?

Boring.  Made me wistful for the "Midnight Run" sequels from the Action Pack

Steve - it opened with a dream sequence which was pretty cool until you realized it was a dream sequence (for me, it was when John got shot in the back by a terminator), and set the tone for the show accurately.  After dream-John gets shot, the money shot is the nuclear bombs going off all around, melting the skin off of the Terminator until he is just an exoskeleton walking at her, choking her, etc.

I liked that part.

Re: only meat travelling through time, I think there was a Peter David story where they send a raygun inside a pig's stomach.

For me half the fun of terminator is all the body horror terminator stuff, is there any of this?

I wouldn't say eye candy but Whedon candy. For some reason I'll watch any show with a Whedon connection. I watched Miracles for goodness sake.

About Mother, I'll also watch anything that is related to Freaks and Geeks/Undeclared but Cobie Smothers is a TV crush of mine.

Only because you couldn't come back with a time machine (nothing inorganic goes through).    They sent an engineer back who could build one from existing tech.  Problem solved.

Ah, duh me.

So now the people in 1999 have a time machine in the basement of their bank.

I just love the idea of a futuristic sci-fi show that takes place in 1999.

I guess you didn't watch.  At the end they used a time maching to jump to 2007 (when the new Skynet is created).
