The majority of the AICN Talkbackers who have actually read it seem to enjoy it. And those dudes are the kings of bitchy internet posters, so I'd say that's a big shining thumbs up for yah. Might brave a trek to the mall to pick up a copy tomorrow.

ps - Dunno if you saw the picture I posted in the Angel sticky up there... but I thought that was pretty cool.

It didn't come in at my local comic shop and I am supersad. I'm gonna have to go tell old Jeff Albertson what's what next time I stop in.

It's 3:19 on Saturday and I just spent the last half hour savoring that fucking book. Man that was a lot of fun. That was really...I don't know, I was just happy and excited and digging it. Now I should mention I was drinking diet coke at the time. So this could be the diet coke talking, but it fucking ruled.

Hey, just popping by to say how much I loved the book. I mean, really loved it. Lots of surprises and big reveals, especially for a first issue.
Can't wait for the next issue. Great stuff, Brian.
By the way, this little write-up came from this week's Graham Cracker Comics newsletter email:
PICK OF LAST WEEK
excellent
Seriously? Angel: After The Fall, all the way. No joke: this is twice the book that Buffy Season Eight is. Pretty much a home run for any Angel fans.

Okay so I was wrong... it just wasn't printed on the shipping list for some reason. And I finally stopped by the comic shop (haven't gone in a week because of... well, you know, the happenings) and saw it and bought it despite my lack of funds till payday. Loved it of course, was a little depressing but that could partially be my current state and also the fact that it is Angel. Love the desk comments especially.
What I really loved was Chris' letter in the back talking about the chance meeting with Joss and remembering back to that day when you told the boards about it. For some reason, it just felt cool already knowing the story from the day of on these boards and then seeing it in print -what is it, a year?- later.
Great work, can't wait for the next issue.

Loved it. So hard waiting a month for each "episode", but thank you for making them worth the wait.

I am honestly loving these books Brian, I normally lurk here but I need to give you huge kudos for handling these characters so well. I just finished #2 last night and the story has me more intrigued than Buffy Season 8.
Also before you start getting pissed about the idiots on either AICN or Whendons site saying this or that the majority of all my old Buffy/Angel convention friends love the book and your writing. Actually every time you take on writing Buffy/Angel characters everybody seems to really like it. Since not too many of them are into comics (I guesse they are geeky enough to go to a Buffy con but not step foot into a comic shop) I end up getting them for everybody and funny thing happened this month. I got requests to get 9 Buffy Season 8 #10 for January and 15 Angel After The Fall #3 so obviously I'm not the only one who thinks your doing a great job.
Now onto the SPOILERS, I have no idea how to do the whole white out/highlight thing so I'm warning anybody who needs to SPOILERS for #1 and #2.....
The ending to #1 gave me a shock of multiple emotions from sad to angry to intrigued. Gunn as a vampire is such a great way to go although I was just slightly wary on how it was going to play out. All that was put to rest in #2 as I am really into Gunns story now, trying to be "good" but going about it the wrong way entirely. Hating Angel, blaming him and trying to show you don't need a soul to be good. Joss keeps doing a great evolution in vampire characters first with Angel with a soul then with Spike for love now with Gunn almost for revenge and a deep hatred for what he has become. I never thought I could ever root for a vampire more than Spike or Angel but I am just totally into Gunns character now I almost want to see HIM get the freakin Shanshu prophecy. I know we are a long way from Gunn being able to qualify as he needs a soul and be a champion but I am not expecting this comic to go away anytime soon so theres time.
Wesley showing up was a great suprise and his role is perfect, not knowing where his loyaltys lie. Wesley has always had that edge to him of never knowing where he was going to go. Conner is great and THANK GOD its not whiney "I hate you Angel *WAH* I'm going to try to kill you for the 100th time" Conner although there still is that underlying emotion without the whining. As always you write for Spike amazingly well and even though some are pissing and moaning about how Spike isn't a hero anymore, him parttying and living it up now is more with the character than him trying to copy Angel going around LA killing demons. Oh and him giving Angel crap was so fantastic and his version of the alley story was excellant. I really like how we are getting diffrent sides to that night in the alley before we ever see what actually happened. That one shot thats been promised should be spectacular.
And last Angel has been written so well with a nice balance of being cynical, conflicted, sorry and all the other great emotions Angel is known for. I really can't complain at all and I can't wait for Jan. 30th to see more of Illyria. All in all your doing a great job and having been a fan of yours for over five years I can't think of anybody more deserving and talented to be taking this on.
OK now that I'm finished with the longwinded rambling kissing Brians ass post I just really hope you try not to take what a handfull of nitpicking douchbags say for what the masses think because trust me its not. Keep up the great work.
Peace Brian

Just read issue three, and then listened to your Q&A from last week again. Nice misdirection in regards to the "why isn't Angel vamping out?" question
